White Oleander by Janet Fitch.

I've been reading this book for quite a while now, but I'm at a part where everything starts to get really exciting, then settles down. Astrid was hanging out at Olivia's house, like the usual, and they started talking about Carnival. Carnival is a festival where Olivia goes every year to dance for 3 days straight, non stop. She told Astrid that she has to come with her this year. Astrid of course doesn't want to go at first just because of the dancing. She then thinks it over and notices that she gets to spend time with Olivia during this time period.

I think that Astrid may be a little interested in Olivia, meaning that she may have a crush on her. Although Astrid knows that Olivia is not a good person, and that Marvel does not like her, Astrid is obviously very interested in Olivia's lifestyle. I think that once Astrid actually goes to Carnival with Olivia, they will somehow click together. I'm not sure in what type of way, but they will for sure become a lot closer than they are now.

Olivia is also a distraction from Astrid thinking about Ray the whole time. She misses him a lot, but now she's very interested in Olivia, like I said before. She always thinks about Ray though. No matter what, he was her first love and she will never forget about him. As creepy as it is for a 13 year old to be in love with a 40 year old, it just happened. Astrid is in a better place now and she will not do anything wrong for now.
